D'Aguilar Highway Reconstruction
In the wake of SEQ January floods, the D’Aguilar Highway through the Blackbutt Range was closed in as a result of major landslip damage along an almost two-kilometre stretch of the road.
Emergency works to re-open the road was awarded to VDM Construction Bellero (VDM) who went on to secure the contract for realignment of this section of highway, under the Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements (NDRRA), which is expected to be completed mid-2012.
Precise Environmental quickly assisted VDM in managing all environmental aspects of the emergency works including statutory compliance, coordination of the ecological assessment for vegetation clearing, erosion and sediment control (ESC), and preparation of the Interim Environmental Management Plan. PE now acts as VDMs Environmental Representative for the NDRRA contract, responsible for preparation and review of the EMP (Construction) and ESC Plans, routine site inspections, technical advice, environmental monitoring and reporting in accordance with DTMR standards and statutory compliance requirements.
